
Sofia Bagulho
Based in London and Portugal
Lisbon-born soprano Sofia Bagulho has recently graduated with a Master’s degree from the Royal College of Music in London, where she studied with Mary Nelson and Rafaela Albuquerque. She began her musical journey at the Conservatório de Música D. Dinis as a flautist, later turning to singing at the Lisbon Conservatory with Ângela Silva.
Sofia previously studied at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, where she graduated with First Class Honours in Voice Performance under Joan Rodgers, Jon Christos, and Robert Bottriell. She was awarded the Vocal Department’s Silver Medal and held a choral scholarship with the Old Royal Naval College Trinity Laban Chapel Choir.
As a soloist and ensemble singer, Sofia has performed at major venues including the Southbank Centre’s Festival Hall, the Barbican, and the Royal Albert Hall. She has sung with the BBC Symphony Chorus, Philharmonia Chorus, and the Calouste Gulbenkian Collaborative Choir, working with conductors such as Sakari Oramo, Frédéric Chaslin, and Nathalie Stutzmann.
A prizewinner at competitions including the Bendada Music Festival Concerto Competition, the Terras de Santiago International Music Competition, and the Euterpe Music Awards, Sofia has also performed internationally, with recent appearances in Boston at the Goethe-Institut and Boston University. Alongside performing, she teaches flute and singing and collaborates regularly with the Bendada Music Festival.
